welcome to

IRMAKMUN'25

December 12-14TH

OUR THEME IS

BONA FIDES: UPHOLDING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION NETWORKS IN THE FACE OF RISING AUTHORITARIANISM

From the secretary general

Dearest Delegates, Honorable Advisors, and Esteemed Guests,

As the Secretary-General of IRMAKMUN’25, I am ecstatic to welcome you all on behalf of the Secretariat and Executive Team. It is an immense pleasure to host you on our beautiful campus for this unforgettable event.

The theme of IRMAKMUN’25 is “Bona Fides: Upholding International Cooperation Networks in the Face of Rising Authoritarianism”. Centered around this theme, IRMAKMUN’25 aspires to be a conference that promotes meaningful dialogue on a global scale, carried out in good faith even in the face of rising tensions and authoritarianism. We focus on the fact that, in recent years, international cooperation has not always been carried out in good faith. By implementing this theme, we hope to foster safe havens for delegates to act in good faith while paving the way for a better future.

As Irmak Schools, in accordance with our commitment to excellence in education, we have taken every measure necessary to ensure an environment conducive to productive discussions, supported by cutting-edge facilities and a dedicated team of organizers, to make this conference as prestigious as possible. By analyzing prior examples of excellent conferences, handpicking traits from each that make them remarkable, and incorporating input from all of them, we have worked to achieve the best possible combination of qualities a Model United Nations conference can have.

In my capacity as the Secretary-General, I encourage you to approach this organization with an open mind, embracing diversity and a readiness to consider new viewpoints. We aim to make IRMAKMUN’25 an ideal platform for mutually beneficial dialogue, where the interpersonal abilities, rhetorical qualities, public-speaking confidence, and diplomatic skills of all delegates can truly shine.

Before I conclude, I would like to leave you, delegates, with a quote that has guided me for the entirety of my delegate career: “The United Nations was not created to take mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell”. This quote is from the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dag Hammarskjöld. I urge you all, dear delegates, to keep this quote in mind while crafting resolutions and debating; I assure you that it will not be in vain.

To conclude, I once again extend my greetings to every participant. We are more than happy to have the chance to host you on our campus and are eager to see the mark you will leave on IRMAKMUN’25.

Cordially,

Can Kuzey Güner
